2. Competition Overview

The Balloon Dart Competition is a recreational precision-based contest where participants throw darts to burst balloons for points. It combines concentration, hand-eye coordination, and strategic aim.

The competition is designed to be fun, inclusive, and artistic. Balloons may be decorated, color-coded for points, or placed to form visual patterns or artistic scenes.

3. Modes of Competition

• Offline (On-ground event)

  • Conducted in cultural fairs, open arenas, schools, clubs, or public spaces.
  • Safety protocol must be followed, especially when using real darts.

• Online (Virtual participation)

  • Participants record a video of their performance as per given rules.
  • Background should clearly show the dartboard/balloons setup.
  • Live sessions may also be organized.

4. Types of Competitions

• Standard Balloon Burst – Points for each balloon popped.

• Color Code Challenge – Balloons of different colors carry different scores.

• Artistic Pattern Pop – Balloons arranged in creative shapes; participant must target specific shapes or sequences.

• Disability-Friendly Adaptive Format

  • Seated or wheelchair-accessible setups.
  • Use of adaptive darts or throwing aids allowed.
  • Time extensions or guided assistance (verbal or mechanical) permitted.

5. Eligibility Criteria

• Open to all individuals worldwide.
• Age Categories:

• Special Categories:
  • Para/Disabled Artists
  • Must have disability certificate or declaration.

6. Judging and Jury Format

Jury Panel to consist of:

• 3 to 5 Experts from Traditional Games, Arts & Sports background

• At least 1 representative for inclusion and accessibility

Jury Responsibilities:
Ensure fair scoring and rule compliance. Can consult public opinion for final awards.

7. Public Voting Channels (optional, at Jury’s discretion)

Offline: Raise of hands at live venue.

Online:

• Pythian Games Website Voting

• Pythian Mobile App Voting

• SMS Voting (Short Code-Based)

Public vote can account for maximum 20% of the final score if activated.

8. Marking Criteria (Total: 100 marks)

• Accuracy (30 marks)
  Number of balloons burst as per rules.
• Technique and Skill (20 marks)
  Dart throwing form, control, and grip.
• Creativity in Target Selection (10 marks)
  Smart targeting or artistic balloon patterns (if applicable).
• Time Efficiency (10 marks)
  Finishing within allocated time (e.g., 1 to 2 minutes).
• Difficulty Level Chosen (10 marks)
  Higher points for choosing tougher layouts or smaller balloons.
• Presentation and Decor (10 marks)
  Neat, colorful, and well-arranged balloon setup, especially in online mode.
• Audience Engagement or Fun Element (10 marks)
  Expressiveness, enthusiasm, costume, and showmanship.

• Gold, Silver, Bronze Medals in each age and category (offline and online).

10. General Rules and Guidelines

• Darts must be safe, with rounded tips if used by children or in schools.

• Balloon boards must be pre-approved (or design submitted for online mode).

• Participant must stand at designated distance (age-appropriate).

• Use of helpers is permitted only in para categories and must be disclosed.

• No editing of video in online mode; continuous footage required.

• Any unsafe behavior leads to disqualification.
