Folk Singing Competition
Age category: 10 to 13 years
The competition is held in one round.
- Arrangement of a folk song
- Song in folk style with known authors, must be varied and performed with accompaniment (one song may be unaccompanied)
Total duration: up to 6 minutes.
Main evaluation criteria: artistic performance, mastery of vocal techniques, theatrical quality, performance culture, conformity with regional folk traditions, age-appropriateness, and costume (folklore elements mandatory, regional elements desirable).
Age category: 14 to 17 years
The competition is held in two rounds.
Round 1
- Folk song representing the traditions of the participant's country
- Two songs with known authors (one may be an arrangement of a folk song)
- One of the three songs performed unaccompanied (a cappella)
Total duration: up to 9 minutes.
8 participants allowed to Round 2.
Round 2
- Arrangement of a folk song
- Folk song with known author, must be diverse and performed with accompaniment; cannot repeat Round 1 songs
- All songs performed consecutively; costume changes not allowed
- Submit lyrics in English or Russian in typewritten form; provide full details (title, composer, arrangement, lyrics, exact running time)
