The Frog Race is a traditional game enjoyed by children and adults across the world for generations. Symbolizing agility, humor, and joy, the game has taken various forms in different cultures. Under the banner of the Modern Pythian Games, the Frog Race is curated as a competitive, inclusive, and celebratory event held in both online and offline formats. Participants will compete for Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals, promoting physical activity, inclusivity, and cultural connection.

The game of Frog Race is known by different names in various countries:

• Russia: Лягушачьи гонки (Lyagushachi gonki)
• India: मढक दौड़ (Mendhak Daud)
• USA/UK: Frog Jump or Frog Race
• France: Course de grenouilles
• China: ⻘蛙赛跑 (Qīngwā sàipǎo)
• South Africa: Padda Wedloop
• Mexico: Carrera de ranas

Despite linguistic and cultural differences, the essence remains the same — hopping like a frog from start to finish!

3. Game Description

Participants imitate the movements of a frog — crouching and hopping forward using both hands and feet. The race is generally conducted over a marked distance. The one who completes the distance fastest, following all the rules, wins.

4. Formats

• Offline Format
  

  Conducted on a physical ground with real-time jury supervision and audience presence. Participants must perform frog-like jumps across a defined track while maintaining form and fairness.

• Online Format
  

  Participants submit pre-recorded race videos or join live video-based races through secured platforms. A standard track and camera setup must be followed to ensure fair judging.

5. Eligibility Criteria

• Age Categories:
  • Children: 6–12 years
  • Teenagers: 13–17 years
  • Adults: 18–40 years
  • Seniors: 41+ years
• Special Category:
  • Para and disabled participants, who may perform the frog movement in adapted forms (like arm-only forward hops or wheelchair-assisted races), evaluated based on movement creativity and effort.
• Open to all nationalities and genders.

6. Registration Process

• Online registration via the official Modern Pythian Games portal or mobile app.
• Upload recent photograph and age proof.
• Indicate whether registering for Online or Offline format.
• Choose category (General or Disabled).
• Pay nominal registration fee (waivers available for special needs participants).
• Receive unique participation ID and confirmation.

7. Dress Code

• Comfortable sportswear or costumes resembling frogs (optional but encouraged for visual appeal).
• No footwear or only soft grip socks (for safety and authenticity).
• Para participants may use specialized gear or props with prior approval.

8. How the Game is Played

• Offline Mode:
  • A 10 to 20-meter race track is marked on grass or mat.
  • Participants start on a crouch and hop like frogs to the finish line.
  • Disqualification for standing upright or running.
  • Best of 3 rounds may be considered in finals.
• Online Mode:
  • Participants use a camera to record a race over a home-defined track (must meet track measurement and quality guidelines).
  • Alternatively, perform live in a monitored Zoom/Google Meet session hosted by jury panel.
  • Ensure clear visuals, sound, and uninterrupted performance

9. Categories of Competition

• By Age: Four categories (Children, Teenagers, Adults, Seniors)
• By Ability: General and Disabled divisions
• By Mode: Online and Offline
• By Level: Local, State/National, International

10. Jury Panel

• 3 to 5 members per panel
• At least one sports trainer, one physiotherapist (for disabled category), and one cultural representative from the Modern Pythian Games council.
• For international events, include a neutral international judge.

11. Jury Qualification

• Certified Physical Education Instructors
• Professionals in adaptive physical education for disabled categories
• Cultural and arts-based sports promoters with prior jury experience
• Must attend a training orientation conducted by the Pythian Games Jury Board

12. Scoring Criteria

• Speed: Time taken to complete the race
• Form & Authenticity: Proper frog movement (hands and legs involved, no upright running)
• Balance & Consistency: Consistent hopping without falling or slipping
• Creativity (Special Category): Adaptation and enthusiasm in disabled participants
• Spirit of the Game: Discipline, positivity, and sportsmanship

13. Winning Criteria

• Fastest valid completion time
• Zero rule violations
• Highest total score in case of tie (based on form and spirit)

14. Medals

• Gold: 1st Place
• Silver: 2nd Place
• Bronze: 3rd Place
• Certificates of participation and excellence will be given to all finalists.

15. General Rules & Regulations

• Participants must follow the frog movement style throughout the race.
• No external aid or propulsion allowed (except approved for disabled category).
• Judges’ decisions are final and binding.
• In case of injury, participants must immediately stop — safety is paramount.
• Video submissions for online mode must be unedited, continuous, and dated.
• Participants must report 30 minutes before their slot (offline) or login 15 minutes before (online).
• Unsportsmanlike behavior will result in disqualification.
• Any form of misrepresentation (age, category, etc.) will lead to disqualification.
• Only registered and approved costumes/gear allowed.
• Appeals, if any, must be filed within 1 hour of result declaration with supporting proof.

16.Transparency & Fairness Measures

• All races are recorded and archived for review.
• Digital time-tracking for offline events.
• Online submissions reviewed by at least two independent jurors.
• Open results with score explanations on Pythian Games website.
• Feedback portal for grievances and improvement.
