1.Introduction

Sculpture is a timeless art form that reflects the creativity, culture, and skill of artists across the world. The Modern Pythian Games celebrate this ancient craft by inviting sculptors of all abilities, including disabled artists, to showcase their talents on a global stage. The competition honors diversity, innovation, and mastery in sculpture.

2. Different Names of Sculpture in Various Nations

• English: Sculpture

• Japanese: 彫刻 (Chōkoku)

• Chinese: 雕塑 (Diāosù)

3. Eligibility

• Open to all artists regardless of nationality.

• Separate categories for able-bodied and disabled artists to ensure inclusivity and fair competition.

• Age categories:

  • Junior (up to 18 years)

  • Adult (19 to 50 years)

  • Senior (51 years and above)

• Participants must submit proof of artistic background (portfolio or prior exhibition details) or a letter of recommendation from an art institution/teacher.

• Disabled category participants must provide valid documentation or a declaration confirming their status.

4. Types of Competitions

• Live Sculpture Creation:
  

  Artists create sculptures live at the venue or designated space within a fixed time period (e.g., 3 to 7 days).

• Pre-Created Sculptures:
  

  Artists submit sculptures created prior to the competition for display and judgment.

• Thematic Sculpture Challenge:
  

  A theme is provided (e.g., “Unity in Diversity,” “Nature and Humanity”), and artists interpret the theme in their sculpture.

• Digital / Virtual Sculpture:
  

  For contemporary artists specializing in 3D modeling or digital sculpting, submissions can be made in digital format and showcased through VR or AR platforms.

5. Marking Criteria (Total 100 marks)

• Creativity & Originality (30 marks):Uniqueness of concept and artistic expression.
• Technical Skill & Craftsmanship (25 marks):Mastery of materials and techniques used.
• Theme Interpretation (15 marks): How well the artist conveys the theme (if applicable).
• Aesthetic Appeal & Composition (15 marks): Visual impact, balance, and overall beauty
• Innovation & Use of Materials (10 marks): Novelty in choice or use of materials, eco-friendly or experimental methods.
• Inclusivity & Accessibility (5 marks): Special attention to works created by disabled artists, showcasing adaptive techniques or innovation.

6. Jury Composition

• The jury panel will consist of:
  • Renowned international sculptors and artists.
  • Art historians and critics.
  • Representatives from art institutions and cultural organizations.
  • Representatives from disability arts organizations to ensure fair judgment of disabled artists’ work.
• The jury has the authority to:
  • Evaluate all entries.
  • Decide winners based on scoring.
  • Recommend works for special recognition or awards.
  • Incorporate public opinion through voting.

7. Public Voting

• The jury may open a “People’s Choice Award” category decided by public voting.
• Voting methods include:
  • In-person voting by raising hands during exhibitions.
  • Online voting via the official Pythian Games website or mobile app.
  • SMS voting for wider accessibility.
• Public votes will be tallied separately and the highest vote-getter will be awarded the People’s Choice Award.
• Public voting will be carefully monitored to ensure fairness and prevent fraud.

8. Competition Criteria

• Artists must adhere to material safety standards.
• Sculptures must fit within prescribed size and weight limits (details provided in event guidelines).
• No sculptures with offensive or politically sensitive content allowed.
• All entries must be original and created by the submitting artist.
• Late submissions or works not meeting guidelines may be disqualified.
• Disabled category entries will have reasonable accommodations provided during the competition.

9. Awards and Recognition

• Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medals in each category (Junior, Adult, Senior) and type of competition (Live, Pre-Created, Thematic, Digital).
• Special awards for:
  • Best Disabled Artist
  • Innovation in Materials
  • Theme Excellence
  • People’s Choice Award (Public Voting)
• Certificates of participation for all entrants.
• Opportunities for exhibition in international galleries and online showcases.
• Monetary prizes and scholarships (if sponsored).
• Invitation to participate in workshops and mentorship programs conducted by master sculptors.
